Sauk Centre parishes have been in partnership with their sister diocese in Migori, Kenya, Africa for many years. We frequently have delegations of parishioners travel to Migori, live among their people, and return with their hearts full and lives changed.

Migori Partnership Team

This committee meets about nine times a year on the third Tuesday of the month for one hour and focuses on our sister parish relationship with St. Joseph’s in Migori, Kenya. We oversee our Orphan project, which began in 2009, where we have been working to provide food, education and some shelter and health care needs for 90 orphans. We are also in charge of planning delegations to go to Kenya as well as receiving delegates from Kenya. Additionally, we fundraise to bring delegates here every three years, so there is delegation going to fro coming from Migori every 18 months. We hope to receive delegates in the fall of 2017 from Kenya and send delegates to Kenya in early 2019.

People who want to help the partnership by making baked goods/salads for our bake sale and salad luncheon are needed. These two fundraisers will help us bring delegates from Migori to Sauk Centre! Quilters/sewers are also needed for a project to help the orphan girls.

We want to thank everyone for your generous support of our orphans through the “Back to School Blessing Tree.” We raised over $17,000 and with other funds collected sent over double that amount for our orphan project for the 2017 school year! Below you will find letters from our university students.
